Both vehicles provide a powerful engine that can help drivers traverse more complicated terrain and maximize towing capability. With the 2019 Land Rover Discovery, you can choose from multiple engines, so you get the performance you want in a luxury SUV. Two of the most popular engine options are the 3.0-liter, turbocharged, diesel engine, which puts out 254 horsepower and 443 pound-feet of torque, and a supercharged V-6 engine that produces 340 horsepower and 332 pound-feet of torque. The engines are paired with an eight-speed automatic transmission, and Haldex all-wheel drive comes standard.

The 2019 Audi Q7 SUV is powered by either a 45 TFSI (2.0T) or 55 TFSI (3.0T) engine; these provide 248 and 329 horsepower, respectively. Both engines are paired with an eight-speed Tiptronic transmission and Audi quattro all-wheel drive.

The Land Rover also has a towing capacity of up to 8,200 pounds and comes equipped with a Terrain Response 2 system that monitors your driving conditions and adjusts your drive mode to provide you with the smoothest ride and the best handling. The Audi under-performs when compared to the Land Rover in both horsepower and towing capacity; the Q7 can tow a maximum of only 7,700 pounds with the larger engine.

Both the Land Rover Discovery and Q7 provide plenty of luxury and convenience. The Discovery features Range Rover's Touch Pro infotainment system, which allows for advanced connectivity on a 10-inch HD screen display. It includes plug-and-play ports and offers hands-free access to your contacts, music, and more.

Cost

The Land Rover Discovery and the Audi Q7 start at a similar MSRP; the Discovery lists for $52,600 and the Q7 starts at $53,550. The Land Rover has a slight edge when it comes to the RR and RRS trims as they both qualify for the Section 179 tax advantage, which allows business owners to deduct the full price of certain equipment, including some heavy vehicles.

When it comes to safety and security, both vehicles offer excellent driver protection when an accident occurs as well as safety technology to aid you in preventing accidents.

The Audi Q7 offers a suite of passive safety features such as Audi pre-sense basic, active lane assist, high beam assist, steering park assist, and adaptive cruise control.
